Here are poems based upon William Carlos Williams poem "The is Just to Say."
This Is Just to Say
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were
probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

As I get in the water
I feel as though
I was a lightning bolt.
Shooting through the water
as fast as I can go.
Racing to the end
just as I get in.

I am nothing
void, shapeless
uncolored.
Always moving
never stopping.
No eye can find me.
No creature can touch me
I don’t have a figure
I don’t have voice.
But I have a hand
for without a hand
I could not write this poem.

I am a rainbow
changing colors with my mood.
I turn yellow when I get something.
I turn gray when I lose privileges.
I turn all colors when I don’t know what to do.
I appear after the dark gray sky
shining all my bright colors
to cheer up people after the gray sky
